Will I need to move out of my home while the extension is being built?
In most cases, there is no need for you to move out of your home. We will do our best to minimise the disruption to your life whilst the extension is being constructed. In rare cases where there are major structural changes, it may be more comfortable for you to relocate for a short time, but if this is the case we will talk to you about ensuring the fastest turn around possible so you can get on with your day-to-day life without too much hassle.
How long is the process?
There are number of stages, firstly our design process is 4-6 weeks, then preparing plans and documents for lodgement is 3-4 weeks. Obtaining DA/CC or CDC approval is generally 4-8 weeks. Once we have the all the approvals we sign contracts and start the building process which can range from 2-6 months depending on the design and complexity.
Should we not just knock down and rebuild?
With the knock down and rebuild option you have to consider the costs of moving out, renting for 6-12 months, possible storage costs of furniture, the loss of any improvements and investment you have already made to the home. Added costs of new landscaping, driveway and paths etc.
What does it cost per square metre?
There are many variables that can affect the price and as each project is custom designed to suit individual needs a cost per square metre rate is inaccurate and misleading. We prefer to design each addition with your budget in mind and endeavour to include all, or most of, the features and spaces you require.
